Dryden Family
Reunion - 2011
It is hard to believe that the next Dryden Family Reunion is almost upon us. I still remember the last 2005 reunion clearly as a huge success and “one of the best reunions ever held” as stated many times on the survey forms by the attendees. It will now be 177 years since the Dryden Family immigrated to Canada from Scotland as we celebrate with our 2011 festivities on July 2nd, and 3rd of next year. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to share in a time of fellowship with your extended Dryden ‘family’. Due to the amount of work involved in preparing for this huge event, we need many volunteers to assist us on the organizing board. We are short staffed and need help for the 2011 reunion. If you would like to help keep this reunion running, we need the assistance of many, from small to large tasks - please feel free to contact us to help out. Due to the lack of help, difficulty in booking guest speakers etc, we had no choice but to delay the reunion one year to 2011.
The Dryden committee / board members have met many times in the last 5 years discussing how well our family members enjoyed the two day event in 2005 and to plan for next years’ expanded program. We have reviewed your suggestions and comments from the survey forms and are looking forward to another fantastic reunion at the Waterloo Police Association near Cambridge, Ontario. This is the perfect setting to host such a prestigious gathering (as we have done in many past years at this same convenient location). The hall has been booked, the catering staff preparing, and the candles are being set for this years’ theme – “From Flicker to Flame”. Our goal for this year is to help educate our young family members, to nurture their knowledge, and encourage them to carry the Dryden Family ‘Flame’ for years to come, just as the Olympic torch has been carried by athletes across this great nation.
